Dr. Hollander was raised in Princeton, N.J. He attended Princeton Day School, followed by Princeton University. He graduated with honors from Princeton University in 1994.

Dr. Hollander earned his M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Once again he graduated with honors and was awarded membership to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the highest honor bestowed on a graduating medical student.

Dr. Hollander completed his internship and residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He served as chief resident from 2002-2003, and was recognized as an outstanding teacher in the medical community during that year.

Subsequently, Dr. Hollander completed his fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Bone Diseases at the Mount Sinai Hospital. His academic interests included bone metabolism in critical illness, thyroid autoimmunity, and nutrition support in the chronically critically ill.

Dr. Hollander moved back to Princeton after his fellowship with his wife and two daughters, intent on bringing academic endocrinology to suburban New Jersey. To that end, Dr. Hollander was the first endocrinologist in the region to perform ultrasound guided fine needle aspirations of suspicious thyroid nodules. He was the first endocrinologist in the region to routinely identify parathyroid tumors with high resolution ultrasound. He was the first endocrinologist to routinely biopsy malignant lymph nodes…and he was the first endocrinologist in New Jersey to employ the latest gene technology to help his patients avoid unnecessary surgery.

Dr. Hollander has earned the prestigious ECNU certification. ECNU is a professional certification in the field of neck ultrasonography for endocrinologists who perform consultations and diagnostic evaluations for thyroid and parathyroid disorders through both diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration. ECNU is recognized by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), one of the preeminent, national accreditation bodies for ultrasound practices, and allows those with the ECNU credential to be directors of ultrasound laboratories. Moreover, Dr. Hollander personally performs every neck ultrasound – which is unique.

Dr. Hollander is board certified in Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Clinical Nutrition, and Clinical Nutrition support. He has lectured on topics ranging from the obscure -Adiposopathy in Asian Americans – to the most mainstream of topics – Controlling your out of Control Thyroid. He has published a wide array of articles in peer reviewed journals. He co-authored a definitive chapter on the management of Graves’ disease which was published in 2010. More recently he contributed 4 chapters to The Complete Guide to Lifelong Nutrition. Dr. Hollander is an avid triathlete; he is currently building a comprehensive curriculum to inspire and educate the community. He believes that the cure for type 2 diabetes and obesity will never be found on an operating table or in bottle, but rather through hard work, education, and proper nutrition. He invites the community to follow him as he trains on @doctorrunning.
